OUR MANAGEMENT TEAM
Boshard Construction has undergone significant change from a management perspective over the last couple of years. The most recent is the appointment of new members to the management team as of 01 July 2016.
GAVIN HUNTER
MANAGING DIRECTOR
A passionate businessman who believes strongly in sharing his knowledge and skill with young entrepreneurs for the betterment of the economy, Gavin has 25 years’ experience in the construction industry. He has progressed through the ranks at Boshard Construction, starting as a trainee buyer in 1992, to becoming qualified as a Quantity Surveyor, to holding the position of Joint Managing Director today.
A few notable projects under his management include the new International Arrival Terminal at the Cape Town Airport, Telkom’s New Data Centre, the revitalisation of the Cape Town Station and Parade Concourse, as well as the new Medical Centre at the University of the Western Cape, to name a few.
He believes that construction is fundamental to infrastructure development, and a key driver to creating much-needed employment.
Gavin is also a Director of the Western Cape Business Opportunities Forum (WECBOF), and an active member of the Black Management Forum (BMF). He is married, and has 3 children.
SHAUN PEARCE
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Shaun’s career in construction spans 30 years. He started at Boshard Construction in 1986, and has progressed to fill a number of senior management roles within the organisation until his appointment as Joint Managing Director in 2008. He holds a National Higher Diploma in Construction Management from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and is a registered Professional Construction Manager with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) since 2005.
He has played a key management and oversight role in a number of the larger contracts at Boshard Construction; these include the Tongaat Mushroom Farm in Durbanville, the luxury Spier Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World, the Cape Town Station revitalisation project, as well as construction work at the Chevron Refinery, to name a few. Shaun attributes his passion for construction to seeing the transformation of architectural plans into ‘concrete’ developments which make a tangible impression on their surrounding environments.
He is married, has five children, and is a keen supporter of the National Sea Rescue Institute. He is also an avid footballer.
NAZMI BASSADIEN
CONTRACTS DIRECTOR
With 17 years’ experience in the construction industry, Nazmi is currently a Contracts Director at Boshard Construction. Essentially his role involves the management of key projects, with core tasks including liaison and interface with clients and professional teams; the management of project teams and sub-contractors; progress reporting and quality control; and ensuring on-site compliance with safety and environmental standards. He has honed much of his skill and experience through learning and development at Boshard.
Nazmi loves the challenges presented by construction, and attributes his interest in the industry to regularly accompanying his father - also in construction - to a number of building sites as a young boy.
He completed the Executive Development Programme from Stellenbosch University’s Business School in 2015.
A dedicated family man, Nazmi is married with two sons and is also a keen cyclist.
PHINDILE SODAWE
COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR
Phindile was appointed Commercial Director at Boshard Construction in 2016. He is responsible for the management, formulation, and implementation of financial procedures for projects in accordance with company policy. He is also a key member of the team who gives strategic input and direction on project plans in order to ensure completion, on time and to budget.
He holds a National Diploma in Building from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), and has completed the Executive Development Programme at Stellenbosch University’s Business School. He is currently completing his BTECH in Quantity Surveying at CPUT.
He is married with two children, enjoys reading, and is a sports enthusiast.
