OUR COMPANY HISTORY

Boshard Construction was founded in 1973 by UCT-trained Quantity Surveyor, Keith Boshard.

Keith based the company on a culture and philosophy of family; that a good firm will always foster a spirit of family, and will attract as its employees, associates, and service providers the relatives and friends of its current employees. Such a firm will empower its people through training and development in order that they develop to their full potential.

This culture and philosophy still drives the company today.

On his journey, Keith has partnered with people who have made an indelible impression on Boshard Construction and how it is run. He was joined by Victor Holland in 1977, who became Construction Director in 1997 until his retirement in 2012. Yusuf Meyer joined as Finance Manager in 1988 and became Managing Director in 1997, until his retirement in 2008.

Both Victor and Yusuf worked tirelessly alongside Keith to transform Boshard Construction into the large-scale building contractor it is today, a company which places high value on its staff and its clients, and which is developing apace with the needs of a rapidly changing world, and with technological advances and social and environmental priorities at the heart of everything it does.

In the early days Boshard Construction earned much of its income by sub-contracting for steel structure contractors such as the then Consani, with its core functions ranging from bricklaying, to wet trades, and concrete flooring. By the late 70s, Boshard Construction had begun to diversify into a broader range of construction functions to become the full-service construction company which it is today.

The management team’s insistence on quality of service, hard work, and responsiveness to client needs remains the company’s strong belief, and has ensured its continued success in a competitive industry. Boshard Construction's ability to respond to changing conditions and demands, find and serve diverse markets, and to expand its services accordingly, has resulted in the company growing far beyond its founder’s dreams.
